Memorial Day Weekend abounds with Sales and Specials.  The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is offering their own “S.A.L.E.” (Sea Air and Land Enforcement) in the form of saturation patrols to target DUI and BUI (Boating Under the Influence) drivers throughout Pinellas County over the Memorial Day Weekend.  This is one “SALE” you should avoid.

The detail S.A.L.E. detail will focus on strict enforcement of speeding, aggressive driving, and the impaired operation of vehicles and vessels throughout Pinellas County over the Memorial Day holiday weekend.  The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office utilizing its Patrol Operations Bureau including the DUI Unit, Traffic Enforcement, and the Flight Unit that will be monitoring drivers throughout Pinellas County looking for indicators of impairment such that they can conduct a criminal investigation for Driving Under the Influence (DUI).

The S.A.L.E. begins at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May 27, 2022 and will run through 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 30, 2022.

The S.A.L.E. Patrols will focus on highly trafficked areas in Pinellas County and will maintain a high profile as they focus on identifying under the influence drivers of vehicles and boats.

The Pinellas County Sheriff has stated that this weekend’s Saturation Patrols are part of an on-going program to, “reduce deaths, injuries, and property damage associated with traffic crashes related to impaired driving.”

The S.A.L.E. Patrols will be attempting to identify drivers under the influence of alcohol and/or any chemical or controlled substances.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office has also run DUI Wolf Packs with other local law enforcement agencies.  The S.A.L.E. Patrols do not take the place of the Wolf Packs, but instead supplement the regular multi-jurisdictional DUI Wolf Packs.
