Juveniles held at the juvenile detention center are pending adjudication, disposition or placement in commitment facility.

Pinellas Regional Juvenile Detention Center provides administration support for juveniles in a secure, humane and secure environment. Services for youth include: education, mental health, substance abuse, and health care. A typical day in secure detention would involve sanitization, mealtimes, education, structured physical and educational activities, and court appearance as scheduled. Juvenile average span of stay is approximately 12 days.

The assessment center provides screening, accessing and processing minors who are involved with the juvenile justice system. Operation PAR is the managing partner of the Pinellas County Juvenile Assessment Center that specializes in prevention, treatment, and research. Preceding admission to Pinellas County Juvenile Assessment Center, juveniles are provided a preliminary health screen, including the breathalyzer test, to govern if they detoxification, emergency medical care or mental health treatment.

The Juvenile Drug Court Program is a diversion program for juveniles who have been convicted of misdemeanor and/or felony drug charges. Juveniles entering the program and successfully completing all requirements benefit from dismissed charges.

It is mandatory that juvenile delinquents submit to random urinalyses and drug assessments. A preliminary hearing is arranged with a hearing master for the Juvenile Drug Court Program. Juveniles receive fitting sanctions, which are required to be accomplished. Hearings are organized monthly to screen progress of the participants in the Juvenile Drug Court Program.
